Like many places in the World, Peruvian girls and young women are often victimized by family members or other people close to them. Sometimes the abuse results in pregnancy. The ability of these girls to heal emotionally, physically and spiritually relies on a complex advocacy support system and a safe place where they can be cared for.

Thankfully, many girls and their children receive the care they need at the Casa del Buen Trato Hovde shelter in Huanuco, Peru. From psychological and social services to learning life skills, this shelter serves as much more than a safe haven for the girls it serves. After entering the shelter under such dire circumstances, many of the girls leave to enter higher education programs or start a new career.

Recovering Hope was created to support the girls and staff at the Casa del Buen Trato Hovde shelter through volunteering, financial aid, and prayer. We focus our financial resources on funding vital legal, psychological, and integration services at the shelter. We invite you to learn more about the ways you can help, and how your donation brings hope to these young women and fosters their ability to embark on a journey of recovery.
